HYDROCO
A story born out of frustration
The Problem
Hydroco was born in Bondi, Sydney, where a group of friends began taking a closer look at their health and what they were consuming. When they learned about the prevalence of microplastics in water—especially in Australia’s systems—they couldn’t ignore it. Digging deeper revealed even more unsettling truths about what flows through aging infrastructure.
Determined to take control, they searched for a practical way to reduce the contaminants they were unknowingly ingesting. When nothing felt right, they knew they had to create a solution themselves.
The Lack of Solutions
With active lifestyles—commuting, playing sports, or hitting the beach—we needed a practical solution that fit seamlessly into our day. But the options out there didn’t cut it. Plastic bottles left water hot within minutes, poorly designed filters felt ineffective, and some products looked more suited to survivalists than everyday life.
It was clear: the perfect solution didn’t exist—so we decided to create it ourselves.
The Idea
The goal was simple: to create a sleek, stylish bottle that keeps water cold while filtering out impurities. Something versatile enough to take to the gym, beach, office, or on your commute—without turning heads for the wrong reasons.
After months of research, testing, and a few missteps along the way, we crafted a bottle we’re proud of—one that we’re confident you’ll love too.
Here and now
That brings us to 2024, our launch year where we finally introduced our products to the market.
It's not only mountaineers and survivalists that need filtered water, having done a fair bit of research about water systems around the world, its a necessity for everyone.
We've designed two different bottles, the Atlas and the Hydroco Original collection in various colours and sizes, both of which come with a free Activated Fibre filter. The filter does need to be changed every 60L or so, which works out roughly every 2 months depending on how much you drink. You can sign up for a discounted subscription on the filters (equivalent to AUD$10 monthly) and never get caught with dirty water again!
